Our services include:
Diagnostic Evaluations or Consultations:
Typically, this is an initial appointment that can last up to 2 hours. This provides us with ample time to gather information, review medical records, interview patients and their accompanying families, and conduct a thorough psychiatric examination of the patient. These data allow us to develop an individualized treatment plan and clarify the diagnosis(es). Sometimes during this session, we determine that more information is needed such as medical labs, neuropsychological testing, etc. We discuss all recommendations with the patient and their accompanying family, provided the patient consents to do this. Depending on the assessment, treatment recommendations often will involve medications, psychotherapy or a combination of both. There are many types of psychotherapies and medications that have specific evidence for treating different types of symptoms and disorders. The specific type of therapy or medication recommended will be discussed.
Medication Management (With or without brief psychotherapy)
These are typically follow-up appointments that can last up to 30 minutes. We schedule these in intervals anywhere from weekly to bi-weekly to monthly or greater depending on practice guidelines, severity of symptoms, and medical necessity. The focus during these appointments is on medication response, side effects, medical management, and symptoms.
Psychotherapy with Medication Management
These are also typically follow-up appointments that can last up to 60 minutes. These are similar to medication management sessions, but there is much more emphasis on psychotherapy in addition to medications.
